CIA OPEN FALL TRIPLE WORLDRANKING SHOW ...

We had the triple WorldRanking show last weekend and it was a great success.
It was the first competition held at Húnavellir the new 250m track here in Santa Ynez, CA. The show was 3 days and preliminary rounds were held each day for the WorldRanking classes and finals on Sunday for the sanctioned classes so we had a little bit of everything. We had five judges that are all FEIF International Judges. They all came from a different country too. Florian Schneider came from Germany, Nicolai Thye came from Denmark, Þorgeir Guðlaugsson came from Holland, Rune Svendsen came from Norway and Will from the US. Henning Drath the founder of isibless.de and announcer at the 2011 World Championships flew in and helped with the music and announcing along with featuring the event on his website. Doug helped out with Icetest and some of the organizing of the show. Dan, Els, Anne and Jasmine were the scribes for the weekend. Lindsey and Betsy were on gate duty.

CIA OPEN FALL Triple World Ranking Event...

T1 finalists at the CIA Open Fall World Ranking show 2010 - photo Willy Ma

The CIA will be hosting a Triple World Ranking Invitational Event October 21-23, 2011. This means that all open classes (T1, T2, T3, T4, V1, V2, F1, F2, PP1 and P2) are offered three days in a row, all preliminary rounds for a chance for US riders to rank among the riders in the World. High point riders in each event averaged from the 3 days will be awarded on Sunday instead of finals. The rest of the classes will be offered like normal, preliminary round on Saturday and Finals on Sunday.

World Championships 2011..

We just returned from a fun trip to Austria where we were representing the USA at the World Championships.

Chrissy, Anne-Marie, Rachel and Ásta getting ready for the Opening Ceremony.

This year was one of the strongest year for Tölt - T1 and Fourgait. Dynjandi, Húni and Kaliber traveled from LAX to Luxembourg and drove to Austria where the World Championships was held. Thanks to our team leader Doug Smith who made the trip with them. It was a long trip this year but they all did good.

Dynjandi made the b-finals in both Tölt and because of some riders dropping out of the fourgait finals he got into the b-finals in fourgait as well. We were also top 10 in fourgait combination. There were close to 50 competitors in both T1 and V1 this year so being in top 10 was a great honor.

Rachel, Anne-Marie and Chrissy also did very well. And overall we had a great team of girls representing the US this year!

Three of the horses will travel from our ranch here in California to Luxembourg and drive to St Radegund, Austria.

The training for the World Championships is going good. We are lucky enough to have access to a new 250m track to train on and get a feel for our horses on a longer track than the one we have here at our ranch.

We are really excited to get to travel with our horses to Europe to compete!

Rák frá Akureyri had a colt on July 5th. The sire is our stallion Hrafn frá Garðabæ. He is Black with a star.
This is the third Hrafn offspring Rák has had but she had Hamar from Dalalif in 2006 and Rósa from Dalalif in 2009.

Brynja frá Bakkakoti daughter of Þór frá Prestsbakka and her rider Róbert Bergmann are leading the Teenage class at Landsmót with 8.67.
They wil be participating in the semi-finals on Wednesday.

Another daughter of Þór, Svalvör frá Glæsibæ participated in B-Class with her owner Kjartan Guðbrandsson.
They received 8.40 and 39th place out of 102 participants.

WC Tryouts...

Ásta, Rachel and Anne-Marie at the CIA OPEN WorldRanking Show october 2010

The US Tryout for the World Championships was held here in California on May 22nd and then Þorgeir Guðlaugsson traveled to Georgia, Vermont and New York to judge the rest of the participants. There were 3 of us trying out at the California location and we all made the team. Anne-Marie and Ásta as Adult riders and Rachel as the only Youth Rider. Willy and Dominic rode individual programs for the first time for scores.

We are looking forward to traveling to Austria this summer with our 3 horses Dynjandi frá Dalvík, Kaliber frá Lækjarbotnum and Húni frá Torfunesi.

It focuses mostly on Dynjandi and his accomplishments. It is only in Icelandic so far but hopefully will be published in their international version soon.

Sad News...

Erró and Rachel at the LAIHA Show in 2009

Erró frá Sléttubóli passed away yesterday from a severe colic.

Erró was a first prize stallion son of Orri frá Þúfu and Glóblesa frá Sléttubóli.
He was a beautiful horse with a lot of character and he is sorely missed.

The Tryouts are coming up...

We are one of the sites for this years US World Championships tryouts. They will be held here on May 22nd. Þorgeir Guðlaugsson is coming from Holland and will travel from California to Georgia to judge at Creekside Farm and from there he will be in Vermont at Silver Maple Farm and at last at Mill Farm in New York. The deadline to sign up for the tryouts and to ride for scores is on May 14th so be sure to send in your applications by then.

CIA OPEN Spring show...

We had a great show here this past weekend. We had a total of 30 horses signed up and many people from all over California came to watch. Florian Schneider came from Germany to be our FEIF International judge and Doug Smith helped with Icetest, scribing and announcing like always and we thank them both for making this such a successful event. Also thanks to Ryan, Ellen, Dominic, Gayle and Sara for guarding the gate. And big thank you to Dan for video taping some of us.

The Flying C Team did very well. Ásta and Dynjandi won T1 and V1, Anne-Marie and Húni looked great like always, Rachel and Kaliber are continuing to grow togther and so is Willy and Þór. Dominic and Byr won the Intermediate Tölt and Fourgait like often before. Eileen rode Perla in Pleasure Tölt and they looked great together. Marina and Will rode in the Green Horse classes on Svarta-Nótt and Háfeti and Marina took Þór frá Litlu-Sandvík in the open group fourgait. Lucy and Cait did also very well in the open group Tölt and fourgait and Christina and Hroftur are looking better and better every show. Sara also had a good ride on Blesa aka Melrós in the Novice Tölt.

We went to the USIHC Annual Meeting last weekend held in New Orleans. We went couple of days early to explore the city and had a great time. It's always fun to catch up with other Icelandic horse enthusiasts from other parts of our large country.

The National Ranking was announced and awards were handed out to those that were there. We are really happy with our people bringing home 2 each. Asta won T1 and V1, Anne-Marie won T2 and F2, Rachel won both the youth classes T8 and V6 and Lucy won T3 and V2. Very good results!
